My Last Reads
I read a couple books in the last week of 2016 but didn’t get a chance to post a review about them so here is a brief blurb about those books.
I highly recommend this one! Publishes in February.
Goodreads Book Blurb
For Robert Carter, life in his coastal Maine hometown is comfortably predictable. But in 1976, on his first day of eighth grade, he meets Nathan Tilly, who changes everything. Nathan is confident, fearless, impetuous and fascinated by kites and flying. Robert and Nathan s budding friendship is forged in the crucible of two family tragedies, and as the boys struggle to come to terms with loss, they take summer jobs at the local rundown amusement park. It s there that Nathan s boundless capacity for optimism threatens to overwhelm them both, and where they learn some harsh truths about family, desire, and revenge. MY GOODREADS REVIEW!
I loved most of this book. The beginning was very interesting. Ms. Fisher describes how she accidentally became an actress, her audition for Star Wars, and her affair with Harrison Ford during the filming of Star Wars. I skimmed through most of her diary entries because I found them boring except for her poems. There is no doubt Ms. Fisher was a talented writer. The last third of the book was about dealing with the stigma of being Princess Leia. She definitely had a love hate relationship with being associated with Princess Leia for the last 40 years. Overall, this is a quick and fun read if you are a Star Wars fan. RIP Carrie Fisher.

Setting Free the Kites sounds wonderful. I marked The Princess Diarist to read on Goodreads. I decided to start Lucky Boy after reading The Story Sisters. I will be looking forward to your Goodbye Days review! Thanks for TMTing. 🙂

None of the Alice Hoffman books have text to speech enabled for some reason (probably so readers will buy the audiobooks, ha ha) and because I will be busy the next few days with activities that I need audio for I decided to start Lucky Boy instead. I am only a couple of chapters in, but I really like it so far. 🙂

I really want to read The Princess Diarist. I’m curious about her relationship with Harrison, but I read that it wasn’t such a big deal as it was made out to be. Oh well. 🙂 ~Aleen

It was interesting though since she was so young and he was married. Hope you get a chance to read it. Thanks for commenting

The Princess Diarist is probably fascinating. I think it’s interesting how so many of the iconic roles that make a person’s career are also an albatross at times, or at best a mixed blessing. Maybe one can only understand if one is in that position.
At least you’re not talking about burritos over here lol.
