WHAT I HAVE BEEN WATCHING
The first two episodes were fantastic. Amy Adams is amazing.
What I will be doing this week.
Tuesday and Wednesday I will be riding in RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa). I will be (hopefully) biking 60 miles each day so I won’t be able to read or blog much. RAGBRAI attracts people from all over the world and country and it is so much fun to meet so many interesting people.
CURRENTLY READING
Darius Kellner speaks better Klingon than Farsi, and he knows more about Hobbit social cues than Persian ones. He’s about to take his first-ever trip to Iran, and it’s pretty overwhelming–especially when he’s also dealing with clinical depression, a disapproving dad, and a chronically anemic social life. In Iran, he gets to know his ailing but still formidable grandfather, his loving grandmother, and the rest of his mom’s family for the first time. And he meets Sohrab, the boy next door who changes everything.
Saturday Situation is put on by Pure Imagination. It is were we review our latest reads. Be sure to check out theirs as well.
Loved the second book in this sci-fi series.
This was a DNF. It was confusing and boring and just not for me.
This was a very timely and beautifully written book about six teenagers who sit down every Friday and talk about their fears and struggles. Estaban’s father has been deported back to the Dominican Republic and he lives in fear of when his mother will be taken next, Haley’s dad is in prison and ashamed of him. There are other topics mentioned such as racism, poverty, and bullying. The author excels at developing the characters as the book progresses. They start to trust each other more and more until they are each others harbor. I predict this book will be nominated for many awards. Definitely a must read for all ages.
Stacking the Shelves is put on by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves. Here are the books I have added to my TBR list this week.
I grabbed these from First To Read
Nedra becomes desperate to find a cure when a deadly plague sweeps through her homeland. Soon, she finds herself diving into alchemy’s most dangerous corners–and she turns to the most forbidden practice of all, necromancy.
In this riveting domestic suspense debut, a woman’s life shatters when she meets a girl she believes is the daughter she lost years ago–and she finds that reclaiming the life she lost might cost her the life she has. Tell Me You’re Mineis a story of guilt, grief, and the delicate balance between love and obsession.
The Book Blogger Hop is put on by The Coffee Addicted Writer . There is a weekly prompt featuring a book related question.

RAGBRAI!!! I have gone 15 times the whole way and a few days other times. The first time was 1974 and the last time was 2010; both those years I did the whole thing. I did part of it in 2014. I grew up in Iowa. There isn’t much time on the ride to do much beyond survival things like eating, sleeping, showering, riding. It can be lots of work getting enough good stuff to eat and drink (which sounds ridiculous) I envy you being there. I hope you have great weather. Not too windy, rainy or hot. Thanks Anne. The weather is supposed to be nice thank goodness. We had really hot weather the first part of July so I was a bit worried. I am looking forward to all the people and yummy food.

Good luck with the bike ride! I’d love to do something like that someday. Biking across the state where I live would be difficult, though. There are a lot of mountains. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!
