Book Blurb

Makani Young thought she’d left her dark past behind her in Hawaii, settling in with her grandmother in landlocked Nebraska. She’s found new friends and has even started to fall for mysterious outsider Ollie Larsson. But her past isn’t far behind.

Then, one by one, the students of Osborne Hugh begin to die in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasingly grotesque flair. As the terror grows closer and her feelings for Ollie intensify, Makani is forced to confront her own dark secrets.

Saturday Situation is put on by Pure Imagination. It is were we review our latest reads. Be sure to check out theirs as well.

This book made me cry. Three times!!! I hardly ever cry while reading a book.  This was an amazing, wonderful, and awesome book! There are not enough adjectives to praise this book with so you will have to read it and come up with your own adjectives.  This book won the National Book Award last week and is well deserving of that award.  In a nut shell this story is about 3 teens who had been separated as small children and put up for adoption.  Sixteen years later when one of the girls puts her own baby up for adoption, they find each other.  There is so much hurt from their past that they all struggle with trust and forgiveness and loving themselves.  The author does a great job showing their struggles and what it means to be a family whether you share DNA or not.         screenshot-2017-01-23-at-7-34-21-pm

I checked this out from my local library.

Book Blurb

A collection of seventeen wonderful short stories showing that two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks is as talented a writer as he is an actor.

The Book Blogger Hop is put on by The Coffee Addicted Writer . There is a weekly prompt featuring a book related question.

THIS WEEK’S QUESTION IS SUBMITTED BY Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books!

This weeks prompt is…

What’s your immediate feeling when entering a bookstore, as compared to how you feel when entering a department store?

My answer…

When I walk into a bookstore and see all the books, many of which I have read, I say to myself “Ah friends!”

Ooh I’ll be looking forward to your thoughts on There’s Someone. And I would rather walk into a bookstore than a department store any day, it’s just a totally different feeling. 🙂

Hope you’re having a great weekend!!

I love your answer to the Book Blogger Hop question. When I walk into a bookstore, my first thought is a mix of excitement (“what treasures will I find today?” and a feeling of coming home, both because so much of my life has been spent reading, and because I worked in and managed bookstores for about 6 years after I graduated. I still miss that sometimes.
