Weekend Wrap Up #66

sunday

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @The Caffeinated Book Reviewer It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. Here is what I have been up to this last week.

I didn’t get much read this week.  Too much Christmas shopping, Christmas card writing, and of course work gets in the way.

WHAT I WATCHED

I loved the book Dumplin‘ and have been eagerly waiting for this movie to come out on NetFlix.  It was really good and I plan to have my daughter watch it since she is not much of a reader.  Both the book and the movie do an excellent job of talking about positive body image and accepting not only others for who they are but also accepting yourself.

WHAT I READ THIS WEEK

Screen Shot 2018-11-30 at 9.04.53 AM

I had such high hopes for this book!  I like both authors so I figured  double the goodness right? Nope.  The story had no plot, rambled on, and was plain boring.  The characters especially Arthur, were annoying. He was constantly picking a fight with Ben.  I don’t even know why Ben put up with him for 5oo pages.   The absolutely worst part of this book were the references to Harry Potter and Hamilton on EVERY. SINGLE. PAGE.  Every metaphor or synonym was compared to Harry Potter. It was so distracting.  This book had such potential but unfortunately, fell short.

Stacking the Shelves is put on by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves. Here are the books I have added to my TBR list this week.

princessandfangirl

This was featured on my Can’t Wait Wednesday post and was excited to receive an advance copy from NetGalley.

The Prince and the Pauper gets a modern makeover in this adorable, witty, and heartwarming young adult novel set in the Geekerella universe by national bestselling author Ashley Poston.

Imogen Lovelace is an ordinary fangirl on an impossible mission: save her favorite character, Princess Amara, from being killed off from her favorite franchise, Starfield. The problem is, Jessica Stone—the actress who plays Princess Amara—wants nothing more than to leave the intense scrutiny of the fandom behind. If this year’s ExcelsiCon isn’t her last, she’ll consider her career derailed.

When a case of mistaken identity throws look-a-likes Imogen and Jess together, they quickly become enemies. But when the script for the Starfield sequel leaks, and all signs point to Jess, she and Imogen must trade places to find the person responsible. That’s easier said than done when the girls step into each other’s shoes and discover new romantic possibilities, as well as the other side of intense fandom. As these “princesses” race to find the script-leaker, they must rescue themselves from their own expectations, and redefine what it means to live happily ever after

I received this from First To Read.

In 1962, in the Soviet Union, eight-year-old Katya is bequeathed what will become the love of her life: a Blüthner piano, built at the turn of the century in Germany, on which she discovers everything that she herself can do with music and what music, in turn, does for her. Yet after marrying, she emigrates with her young family from Russia to America, at her husband’s frantic insistence, and her piano is lost in the shuffle.

In 2012, in Bakersfield, California, twenty-six-year-old Clara Lundy loses another boyfriend and again has to find a new apartment, which is complicated by the gift her father had given her for her twelfth birthday, shortly before he and her mother died in a fire that burned their house down: a Blüthner upright she has never learned to play. Ophaned, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, who in his car-repair shop trained her to become a first-rate mechanic, much to the surprise of her subsequent customers. But this work, her true mainstay in a scattered life, is put on hold when her hand gets broken while the piano’s being moved–and in sudden frustration she chooses to sell it. And what becomes crucial is who the most interested party turns out to be.

Aww… come on, those bardic songs in Tolkien should be as good as Christmas music. 😂 Is the narrator singing them like they did in the Hoopla,The Hobbit, audio; or do they read them? 😜

The Weight of a Piano sounds marvelous. 😍 I’m going to add it to Goodreads..🎹

I just counted on my Blog Hopper and I have 15-20 blogs I stop by regularly, and then like you… I will comment on blogs who have commented on mine. I also will visit blogs from seeing other bloggers on Twitter tweet about. 🐦

    Have a fabulous week. 😘

I have Dumplin’ queued up to watch today on Netflix (if I have time), but I haven’t read the book. It’s been on my TBR, but I didn’t get to it before the movie was released. I was planning on reading The Last Woman in the Forest soon! I love that she uses rescue animals to save endangered ones. I also think the murder mystery sounds good.
