GOODREADS

If you like to read books with dogs in them but are worried it will be sad, then no worries in this book.  There are five dogs and not one of them dies are gets hurt.  To be honest, this book isn’t really about dogs at all.  It is a story about family and forgiving those who have wronged you. It is beautifully written, and like Higgins’ other books, told with witty humor.  So if you are looking for a book to read for Dog Days of Summer, this one releases Friday, August 9th.

GOODREADS

Jonathan Trefoil’s boss is unhinged, his relationship baffling, and his apartment just the wrong side of legal. His girlfriend wants to marry someone just like him—only richer and with a different sense of humor. He doesn’t remember life being this confusing, back before everyone expected him to act like a grown-up.

When his brother asks him to look after his dogs, Jonathan’s world view begins to shift. Could a border collie and a cocker spaniel hold the key to life, the universe, and everything? Their sly maneuvering on daily walks and visits to the alluring vet suggest that human emotional intelligence may not be top dog after all.

GOODREADS

The uplifting story of two unlikely mountaineers: a man in late middle age and a fearless pint-sized pup who, together, scale Colorado’s highest peaks.

By the time life had finished hitting Rick Crandall from all sides, he was at the lowest point of his life, both personally and professionally. Depressed to find himself facing a mid-late-life age crisis and watching his finances crumble as the tech industry bubble burst, he hopes his future isn’t headed downhill. It was at this critical juncture in their new marriage that his wife Pamela made an astute and life-changing suggestion: “Let’s get a dog.”

Man you are so right – I could definitely use an Arya in my life! And Laura would be cool too. I always forget about those books and I LOVED them as a child. I think they may have been my first box set. I don’t know what happened to all my children’s books but I do still have an old bookcase my dad made me!

Oh, yes, yes, yes! Your picks for fictional BFFs are fantastic and I agree with soo many of them. Stoked to see Nancy Drew popping up on people’s lists. I was a little confused at first because the first few posts I opened up didn’t have her and I was kind of expecting there to be a lot more of her this week haha!
