Tell Me Tuesday is a weekly blog feature put on by La La in the Library. It is where we discuss what we have been, currently are, and will be reading. What are you reading? Tell me!
WHAT I READ LAST
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. A unique idea of looking at a character dealing with key moments in her life and the world. I thought the ending was a bit of a let down but still worth the read.
CURRENTLY READING
There There is a relentlessly paced multigenerational story about violence and recovery, memory and identity, and the beauty and despair woven into the history of a nation and its people. It tells the story of twelve characters, each of whom have private reasons for traveling to the Big Oakland Powwow. Here is a voice we have never heard—a voice full of poetry and rage, exploding onto the page with stunning urgency and force. Tommy Orange writes of the urban Native American, the Native American in the city, in a stunning novel that grapples with a complex and painful history, with an inheritance of beauty and profound spirituality, and with a plague of addiction, abuse, and suicide. An unforgettable debut, destined to become required reading in schools and universities across the country.
WHAT I AM READING NEXT

DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST, READ AND POST ABOUT AS MANY BOOKS ABOUT DOGS, BOOKS WITH DOGS ON THE COVER, OR BOOKS WRITTEN BY DOGS (KIDDING) AS YOU WANT. This will be my first dog book.
Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively, and by listening very closely to the words of his master, Denny Swift, an up-and-coming race car driver.
Through Denny, Enzo has gained tremendous insight into the human condition, and he sees that life, like racing, isn’t simply about going fast. On the eve of his death, Enzo takes stock of his life, recalling all that he and his family have been through.
A heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty, and hope, The Art of Racing in the Rain is a beautifully crafted and captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life … as only a dog could tell it.
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
THIS WEEK’S TOP TEN TUESDAY TOPIC IS…a freebie so I am choosing in honor of the Dog Days of Summer Reading Challenge…
My favorite animal/dog books.
I almost did a dog themed list today as well but figured I would save it for sometime during August. I’m so tempted to reread Enzo’s tale but I do have some new dog books I want to dive into. Maybe around the holidays. I know I want to read it before I see the movie which I’ll see when it streams so I have a while. I can’t wait for the sequel to A Dog Called Jack. That book was just so darn awesome!

I love your list. There’s nothing like reading a book about animals, especially if it has a happy ending. 🙂

I haven’t read any of these but I’m thinking I need to read more animal themed books! They’re something I’m totally missing from my life, lol. Although, if the animal dies I wouldnt be able to handle it.

There are a lot of books with dogs in them that aren’t sad. Try A Dog Called Jack by Ivy Pembroke. Super cute book and the sequel comes out this fall.

You can tell me how sad The Art of Racing in the Rain is. The older I get the less I can take sad stories about animals and children. They put me in a mind funk for days. 😢
Can you believe I still haven’t read The One and Only Ivan! 😱
A Dog Called Jack is my first DDOS book! 🐶✨
Thanks for TMTing! 😘

I didn’t think The Art of Racing in the Rain was that sad. But it did make me cry. Some books can drag out the sad parts. This one didnt’ . You would love The One and Only Ivan. It is based on a true story.
