WHAT I READ LAST

bridgeof cla

Unfortunately, I did not finish this book.  It was confusing and written very strangely.  I thought maybe it was me so I looked up some reviews and it looks like I was not the only one.  I didn’t expect another The Book Thief  which I think some of the readers were expecting.  I am curious if anyone else has read it.  If so, let me know your thoughts.

geography

I absolutely loved this book! I am a sucker for road trip books.  The story was good and not cliche and I loved the idea of the characters trading up to make money through out their road trip.  Trading up is trading lesser value items with other people for more expensive items.  For example, CDs for a $50 gift card or a rubber band for a non working cell phone. The two main characters are each hiding an embarrassing family secret which is told through the book which kept me turning the pages.  Definitely a fun and entertaining read.

What if the person you thought you knew best turns out to be someone you never knew at all . . . ?

Andrea knows everything about her mother, Laura. She knows she’s spent her whole life in the small beachside town of Belle Isle; she knows she’s never wanted anything more than to live a quiet life as a pillar of the community; she knows she’s never kept a secret in her life. Because we all know our mothers, don’t we?

But all that changes when a trip to the mall explodes into violence and Andrea suddenly sees a completely different side to Laura.

No idea!  I have a couple books on hold at the library that will hopefully come in soon so maybe I will read one of those.  Any suggestions?

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

THIS WEEK’S TOP TEN TUESDAY TOPIC IS…

Platonic Relationships In Books (friendships, parent/child, siblings, family, etc.)

I am dropping the platonic only part.  These are just going to be my favorite relationships in books.

janeyere

Jane and Mr. Rochester (sigh)

haatchi

The photo says it all.

There are so many great characters (species)  and friendships in this book.

harborme

I love the friendship of these kids.

strike

I think everyone is rooting for Robin and Strike to become more than platonic.

scout

Scout and her dad, Atticus.

harry7

The trio’s relationships through out the series is so great.  I also love Harry and Luna’s friendship.

Again, the title says it all.

I still need to do a post about why Mr. Rochester was neither an abuser, nor a misogynist. I was horrified when I read some of the reviews on Goodreads, and there was also a book blog post I read a couple of years ago. I don’t even begin to understand that thinking. Jane and Mr. Rochester are probably my favorite literary couple of all time. 💜✨

To Kill a Mockingbird, YES! Harry Potter, YES! Wayfarers, YES! 👍👍👍👍👍👍✨

I still need to read Harbor Me. 📗✨

    Thanks for TMTing. 😘

Harry and Luna’s relationship remains one of my favorite friendships on the page. She is such an understanding person, and helps him in a way I think few others could have ever managed to.

I really want to read Crimes of Grindlewald, but I still haven’t seen the movie…I saw an out of context spoiler on someone’s post and have to mentally prepare myself for it.
