Six Little Secrets Blog Tour Author Guest Post & Giveaway

Today on my blog,  I’m taking part in the Six Little Secrets by Katlyn Duncan Blog tour! This tour is hosted by Rock Star Book Tours.  I’m very pleased to welcome the author herself, Katlyn Duncan.

Question: When you write are you a plotter or a pantser? (A plotter makes outlines and organizes their writing. A pantser writes by the seat of their pants, no organization at all.)

Answer: I want to thank Jo’s Book Blog for hosting me today for the Six Little Secrets tour.

I am one hundred percent a plotter. The only time that I haven’t plotted a book was when I was discovery writing Soul Taken, long before it was published. I went through so many drafts of wandering and slugging through it that it barely made sense as a story.

I know there are a lot of amazing writers that can “pants” a book, but I am not one of them.

Over the years, my process has changed which has led to me writing books a lot faster than I ever had before. Understanding the structure of a story and working out the details up front is a huge time-saver for me when I finally sit down and write.

I found this process extremely helpful while writing my thrillers, ‘As You Lay Sleeping’ and ‘Six Little Secrets’. Outlining the big reveals and the red herrings made my revision process much easier when I have all the important parts already in the book.

There’s a common misconception with outliners that there’s no creativity in the writing process. I’m not the type of outliner that details every single second in the story. I give myself important milestones while still allowing the characters and plot space to breathe and come to life in my head. Since I work in Scrivener, the outline is always changing, and I don’t have to leave my screen to do it.

Thanks Katlyn! Check out the details of her new book below and don’t forget to enter for a chance to win a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble. The link is at the end of this blog post.

About The Book

Some secrets can never stay hidden for long…

Six teenagers meet in Saturday detention: a brain, a beauty, a cheerleader, a rebel, a recluse and the new girl.

But someone is watching. Someone has made sure that they are all in the same room at the same time. Someone knows that each of them is hiding a terrible secret…

…and by the end of detention, everyone will know the truth.
