Weekend Wrap Up #3

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @The Caffeinated Book Reviewer It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. Here is what I have been up to this last week.

I didn’t get much reading done this week because as I was looking at some past blog posts, I noticed that ALL my photos in my posts had DISAPPEARED!!!! After much Googling and calling help lines, I realized what I had done for the photos to disappear.  So I spent 3 days ignoring my family and dogs because I was re-downloading and adding the photos back into my posts.  I had 17 months worth of posts with an average of about 6 posts per month.  I wanted to cry and scream at certain points but I kept on and finally finished!

Hosted by Read. Sleep. Repeat

I am STILL trying to finish my third ARC, Little Fires Everywhere.  It is really good but for some reason it is taking me forever.

LA LA IN THE LIBRARY and I are participating in the DOG DAYS OF SUMMER Reading Challenge. We will be reading books about dogs and we are going to be doing dog themed activities on our blogs for the entire month of August! Be sure to check out our DOG TAG post and La La’s Dog movie post HERE!!!!

I will be reading this dog book next.

Saturday Situation is put on by Pure Imagination. It is were we review our latest reads. Be sure to check out theirs as well.

“One of the remarkable things about dogs, one of the reasons humans have loved dogs so well and so long is that they are singularly well equipped to make us feel loved in return.”

This book wasn’t exactly what I expected. I thought it would be a story of a lady who was at rock bottom and got a dog and everything changed.  Instead, the author wasn’t at rock bottom but she did get a dog and everything changed.  There were some great parts and insights but after awhile the author seemed to be saying the same things over and over.  I would have enjoyed this book if it was a bit shorter.  However, there were some great things mentioned.

The author says, “People have very powerful relationships with their dogs, and that doesn’t mean they’re crazy, or that they’re substituting dogs for humans, or that they’re somehow incapable of forming intimate attachments with people.  It’s a different kind of relationship, but it’s no less authentic.”

Stacking the Shelves is put on by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves. Here are the books I have added to my TBR list this week.

I have heard good things about this book and author.  I checked this out from my local library.

The Book Blogger Hop is put on by The Coffee Addicted Writer . There is a weekly prompt featuring a book related question.

This weeks prompt is…

Have you ever read a book written in a foreign language you might be fluent in, and then read the same book in English?

All the books I own are in English.  However, I do like seeing books that I have from other countries because the covers are so different. Here are some examples.

I got to see my former senior foster dogs this wee.  Tank and Dash are doing well. Hopefully they will find their furever home soon.

Trixie seems to be warming up more to my dog, Bella.  I found them napping together on the couch.  Usually, they each have a couch.  Friends?

I have come across books like that before where I am enjoying it, but it seems like it is never-ending. I had no idea that The Woman In Cabin 10 is by the same author as In a Dark, Dark Wood. Where have I been? Ha ha.

I can sort of read French well enough to read a novel, but I would have to have read the book in English first to help me place characters and events. I was going to do something on my blog about this because Lori M. Lee was supposed to send me Gates Of Thread and Stone, in French, but I guess she forgot. 😦

It was great to see the pics,of Tank and Dash, and also great to hear they are doing well. You dog book for this week sounds interesting. Have a wonderful new week. 🙂

I kept hearing good things about the Lying Game and realized it was the same author as The Woman in Cabin 10 so I put holds on then at the library. There is a huge wait for the Lying Game. If I like Cabin then I will probably read Lying Game. I haven’t read In a Dark Dark Wood.

I’ll be curious what you think of Little Fires Everywhere when you finish it, as it’s one I’m kinda interested in. And I hope you like The Woman in Cabin 10. It’s very atmospheric!

Glad the doggies are doing well!

The doggies are adorable! I can’t believe all your post pics disappeared though, that’s just plain evil… really too bad.
I have actually read a book in two languages! It was a Murakami book in Japanese and English. I didn’t find them too different, although of course his style in Japanese works even nicer for him. But I don’t read anything ‘double’ anymore, for the same reason I don’t do rereads much anymore either – time 😀 you know how it goes.
    Have a great reading week!

Wow, what a frustrating week! Glad you got everything sorted out. Tank and Dash are so cute! It’s such a great thing you do with fostering. I really enjoy the cover of Dog Medicine and I honestly believe a lot of times they are the best medicine possible. Hope you have a better week!

We’ve all done something like that and it’s exhausting and frustrating but you want to get it fixed. When I moved from Blogger to WordPress after 2 years I had to reformat every post and I post every day!! I am glad you were able to find them all 🙂
