QUESTIONS
1. What was the name of your first dog?
My first dog’s name was Charlie. I don’t remember much about him except that he was a little white dog that unfortunately was chained up and kept outside. I was raised to be fearful of dogs because my little brother was bit by one.
2. Do you have a dog now?
Yes! I actually have two dogs. Zeba is a chihuahua/poodle mix and she is 7 1/2. Bella is a jack russell/bassett hound mix and she is 3. I also have a foster dog right now. Her name is Trixie and she is a 12 year old terrier mix. Her owner died and had nowhere to go. I picked her up at the rescue I volunteer for because she wasn’t handling the shelter very well.
3. What is your favorite breed of dog?
My favorite breed of dog is mutt haha! But if I really have to choose I would say Beagle only because they are so cute!
4. What is your favorite canine themed book?
Yikes! That is like asking me to pick my favorite child. I have several but the one that got me interested in fostering senior dogs is called My Old Dog. It has great stories of people caring for old dogs that had been abandoned at shelters much like Trixie and the other two senior dogs I fostered earlier this year.
5. Who is your favorite fictional dog?
Growing up I loved watching Scooby Doo on tv at the babysitters house. When I got older and could read, I loved reading the Snoopy comics and checking Snoopy books out at the library.
6. What is your top movie choice with a featured canine?
I loved the movie Annie growing up. Watching that movie always made me wish I had a dog. They were so devoted to each other.
7. Do you consider yourself a dog or a cat person? Why?
Definitely a dog person. I just love their adoring personality. It doesn’t matter if I am gone 5 hours or 5 minutes, when I walk in the door, they are ALWAYS happy to see me. I can’t sit down on the couch without one of my dogs jumping on my lap to snuggle while I read or watch tv.
BONUS QUESTION
Tell us about a personal dog related memory.
I have many but I think my most recent one is when I got my first two senior foster dogs, Tank and Dash. They were a bonded father-son pair and they were in pretty rough shape. I wasn’t even sure if the oldest one, Dash, was going to make it through the week. They had been surrendered because the owners themselves were too old to take care of them properly. But after a week in my home where they were fed well, loved on, and just allowed to rest, I saw huge improvements and made all the hand feeding, potty accidents, and sleepless nights worth it.

I want to kiss that dog on the cover of My Old Dog. It is so great you were able to go and get Trixie out of the shelter right away. I love seeing all the photos of your dogs. Where did you get the name Zeba? I adore it. 🙂

We misunderstood what the family told us her name was. Her name was Ziva and the other dog in the litter was named Gibbs. I guess they were names of characters on NCIS. We thought they had said Zeba so that is what we called her. When I took her to the vet a couple weeks after we got her it was there I discovered our mistake but we liked Zeba better.

Ooh this is fun. Thanks for tagging me! Can’t wait to put my answers together…
Nice that you foster dogs. There are some dog breeds I really like but I think the old saying that mutts are the best is often true. And Snoopy is my favorite fictional dog!

I really love that you foster dogs. I don’t think I have the heart for it, I’d end up adopting them all because saying goodbye to animals has never been my strong suit. I don’t even like leaving other peoples animals with their owners.
I love Scooby and Snoopy! I grew up watching both and I even have two PJ sets that are Snoopy and the Red Baron theme.

It is hard to let them go to their fur ever homes but I know their new families will love them and it opens another spot for a dog to get out of the shelter which is the goal 😊 I want Snoopy pjs!!!
