The Radius of Us by Marie Marquardt

I received this book from NetGalley. This book was fabulous! I loved it from page one! It was so beautifully written. I kept highlighting my favorite passages and had to stop because I was highlighting the whole book! The story is told from two points of view. Gretchen, is recovering from a violent attack in an alley a few months ago. Phoenix escaped with his little brother from a gang in El Salvador who was trying to kill them. He is trying to become a US citizen but his past could keep him from this dream. Gretchen unexpectedly runs into Phoenix mistaking him for her attacker. What ensues is an unlikely relationship. This book sheds light on the danger teens face due to the gang activity in South America and these teens running for their lives to America. Another great thing about this book is that there are several beautiful drawings through out.

Goodreads Blurb

When Griffin’s first love and ex-boyfriend, Theo, dies in a drowning accident, his universe implodes. Even though Theo had moved to California for college and started seeing Jackson, Griffin never doubted Theo would come back to him when the time was right. But now, the future he’s been imagining for himself has gone far off course.

To make things worse, the only person who truly understands his heartache is Jackson. But no matter how much they open up to each other, Griffin’s downward spiral continues. He’s losing himself in his obsessive compulsions and destructive choices, and the secrets he’s been keeping are tearing him apart.

My Next Read (I think)
